Power
I’ve spent much more than what I need to live inside this world.
All the ins and outs back in and outside of the ins that keep it all pristine and tight, with luxuries like I’ve never known.
I stood up on my wicker chair, took one more shot, fist in the air and shouted:
“We Are Power!”
Ten times the take they put on everything and every day.
And ten times they spend the cash and throw it out the other way for Cantonese, Japanese,
and some other things that I’ve never known.
And put aside some extra fare for a one night stand, you made this bear YOU GIT!
We Are Power!
Every year their hold makes deeper marks with their fingers,
Like some kinda thumbprint party.
And so the only way to keep things in perspective, is to keep reminding them...
We Are Power!
I don't need to be saved I just need to be set free!
Tornado Dreams
My white house stands alone.
I'm gazing through my bedroom window.
Grey black clouds twisting down, down, down.
Tornado Dreams!
Subconscious fury builds
Winds tear across the ever barren fields.
Nowhere to go. You can't escape what's in your mind.
Tornado Dreams!
Maybe this means I'm alone,
Maybe this means I'm a prisoner, of my own desires.
Fear chills my heart! When I need to feed the fire, I'm hiding in the cellar!
Tornado! Tornado!
My white house stands alone.
I'm gazing through my bedroom window.
Grey black clouds twisting down, down, down!
Tornado! Tornado! Tornado in my dreams!
Tornado Dreams!
The Stand
People laughing. Well they won't be laughing for long now.
People watching, waiting for me to fall down.
And if I fall down, I'll be wiser to walk the long road.
I can see what they're looking for.
It's some mental whore, a hero through the door.
If you ever make it tough on me,
Just be prepared to find your ass at your feet.
I keep hearing what to do, where to go, and "Would you leave that alone!"
People tell me, you should give up this thing that you do.
Now what they're saying, is "I failed" and that "you should fail too.”
And the lies, they go on forever.
It's just a matter of time before they bite you from behind.
Here's my number won't you call me?
I can help you if you trust me!
Change your make-up, and change your music, and then I'll change my mind.
Thanks for the offer, I'll make it on my own.
I'll never let go.
People laughing. Well they won't be laughing for long now.
People watching, waiting for me to fall down.
And the lies, they go on forever.
It's just a matter of time before they bite you from behind.
If you ever make it tough on me,
Just be prepared to find your ass at your feet.
Just one "thank you" and I'm on the road, then there's no matter.
Are you truthful when you shake my hand, when you say you “love my work and understand”?
There's no profit in these things that you do...
There's no reason.
Mother
I know you can't do anything for yourself.
You know you always seem to need her help.
She knows she's got you locked up tight... inside.
Well I hope you're satisfied.
Your mother's calling you
You'd better leave
Your mother's calling you
Hey little boy what's the matter now better not cry, better not cry,
and let the other guys get a special surprise.
Mommy mommy dear, mommy dear says "what a nice boy, good boy, pretty boy",
with a little red dress,
She's made him a mess.
Your mother's calling you
You'd better leave
Your mother's calling you.
I Can
Smart enough to follow, but not wise enough to lead,
I don’t know where I’m going.
It's not the thought that counts.
Better get your act in gear son, many people fear their freedom.
I’m wasting time, its wasting me.
I can do what I want to.
“Listen to me, Adam”, said a woman we call Eve.
“There is a serpent, by the tree. A curiosity.
It said to take a small bite. I know what's wrong and what's right.
A little taste will set you free,”
I can do what I want to.
Smart enough to follow, and I'm wise enough to lead.
Now I know where I'm going.
I can do what I want to when I want to.
Misunderstood
Oh my god! I’m in deep! I slammed the door that broke your sleep.
You chose the cross, and I ran steep, my own demise from this poor world.
This time I’m on a new life mission, troubled tries is what it takes.
I never thought that one day I would ever get the time to analyze his every move.
Overtaken by the threat of his right hand, it’s a memory I find hard to lose.
Plant a seed that makes you work hard, miss those warm dinners at night.
Pack the car to see the outside, scheduled crying and those frequent fights.
You found your own replacement for what you lost when you said “I do.”
The boy says you never really loved him, I say you’ve just been misunderstood.
Run, jump, his talent’s rare. 1-2-3 with your shoulders square.
All along under father’s stare.
“My boy gets it done!” (but who’s won?)
Father tell her that you really love her...
without the liquor...
Plant a seed that makes you work hard, miss those warm dinners at night.
Pack the car to see the outside, scheduled crying and those frequent fights.
You found your own replacement for what you lost when you said “I do.”
The boy says you never really loved him, I say you’ve just been misunderstood. Stood by your words and your... faith. They provided what we need.
Terrifying, was extreme, still your love it made the seam.
